About the project
tPago is a mobile payment platform for transfers, service payments, phone top-ups, and checking financial products from one place.
I worked on tPago during my first time at GBH, early in my career as a mobile software engineer. It was one of the projects where I started building the practical foundation I still use in React Native projects today.
My part
The Android app was native. I was its main developer and was in charge of maintaining it, fixing the problems that appeared, and keeping it moving as the product changed.
Later, I was assigned to create the iOS equivalent from the ground up using React Native. It was a very different responsibility from maintaining an existing application. I had to understand what the Android product already did, decide how that translated to iOS, and build a new cross-platform foundation without losing the behavior people already expected from tPago.
Working on both sides gave me an early understanding of something that has followed me through my career: cross-platform development still requires respecting each platform. React Native can share a lot, but the product still has to feel and behave correctly on the device where it is running.
Looking back
This project belongs to an important part of my career. I was learning how an existing native product is maintained, how a new app is started, how a mobile team coordinates changes, and how small implementation details become much more important once an app is in the hands of actual users.
The images shown here come from the public App Store listing and may represent a version released after my time on the project.
