About the project
Hello Alfred is a home services app for handling things like grocery delivery, cleaning, and other everyday household tasks.
I worked on the mobile product during my second period at GBH, when I returned with more experience and eventually moved into a senior software engineer role.
My part
I contributed across a stack that included React Native, ReactJS, Node.js, Elixir, and PostgreSQL. The work involved production mobile development and the normal mix of feature work, bug fixing, code review, and the services needed to keep a cross-platform app reliable.
Having access to more than the mobile codebase made it easier to follow a feature through the product instead of treating every problem as something the app had to work around. Sometimes the right mobile fix begins by understanding what the web or backend part is doing.
